The owners of Backyard, we came from various career backgrounds, myself Jonathan Boudville started off my career as an Accountant and after completing my houseman ship, I ventured into various businesses and among them is my public speaking and leadership company and along the way I have picked up mountain biking and that hobby got me started without even having to look back, My other partner is also a successful serial entrepreneur as well and shares the same passion in mountain biking, he is also an outdoor enthusiast when it comes to hiking, camping and jungle trekking which my other partner and buddy, Jonathan Ang who is based in Perth Australia shares this passion as well who works as a full time doctor in the Royal Perth Hospital.
Like I said we all come from various career backgrounds but we were united because of Mountain Biking and along the way we decided to take this hobby to another level which is to serve the mountain biking industry in Malaysia.
The next step is how? Well here's our story
For a start, this
goes back to the history of mountain biking way back in the 1950’s. The brand Backyard will be based on tribute to the
founders and shakers that has made a difference in the Mountain Biking Industry.
People such as Tom Ritchey, Gary Fisher and Charlie Kelly with each having
their own set of skills got together and started a company called MountainBike
where Tom Ritchey first designed Mountainbike frames. However the partnership
dissolved and they went on separate ways while MountainBike was bought over by
Trek USA.
Today
these names and also the founders of “MountainBike” goes down in history but
their Passion and Love for the sport has certainly made a
difference in the MontainBike industry.
The
brand Backyard intends to pay tribute to riders and people that commit their lifetime for
the passion of Mountainbiking. In the local arena in Malaysia there are many
riders and people who has made a name and breakthrough
but they may not have been recognised.
We
seized this opportunity to recognise their hardwork and passion for the
industry and on the other hand, as mention the products that we bring in does
not compromise quality, excellence and price competition
because hardwork, passion and commitment
is priceless unlike many other main stream generic products in the market.
For
someone who knows their bikes well enough will know themselves what they need
best that delivers agility and precision for their performance.
Besides
the”legends” in the Malaysia bike arena we’d also pen down the evolution of
Bukit Kiara which has sprung and unleashed the passion of many others in the
Mountain Biking Industry in Malaysia and this piece of history will be
recognised in the future generations.
Above
all, you’d find that most successful businesses and entrepreneurs today begin
their aspirations from the”backyard” of their house.
In spite of all our aspirations mentioned, we have to acknowledge that we are jusr a start up and this requires time and we are always learning, and what you can do for us is to provide feedback to us on how we can do better, above all it's just for than mountain biking, it's a combination of passion and commitment that gives life to something we call friendship.
